One last comment:

I just wanted to give mad props for Merck. Fuck I loved that label! And so did other DJs at our station (KZSU). Everything you guys released was pure gold. And yes, I actually bought five or six albums (through forced exposure), and even a Merck hoodie.

My favorite mix by Ryow is called 'Pleasure Products - Levitatorz mix', it was given away as a promo at Disk Unions some years back. And Mikiyuji has some mix cds he sells, i guess they're just called 1,2,3 etc. I don't really know the names of em, I don't even think his name is listed in english on the covers... So goodluck on that one.

Yea, I know of Crown City Rockers... they were licensed by the same company in Tokyo that licensed some of our stuff, so I heard their album through Japan actually... Pretty good stuff, though I gotta say my fav stuff along those lines is Starving Artists Crew.... their 1st album is fantastic.

Yeah, definitely track down those Extra Feeding mix tapes. Any specific recommendations for DJ Ryow and DJ Mikiyuji? I'm also a big fan of the Japanese hip hop producers/DJs. One of my all-time favorite hip hop remixes is DJ Celory's mix of O.C.'s classic "Word... Life". Fuck, the piano loop on that remix is perfect.

While we're trading tips, my big hip hop recommendation would be Crown City Rockers (Bay Area represent!!) Brilliant stuff, trained jazz musicians with a superb MC... and they're really nice guys/gal!

Cool... glad people are liking em....

The world is yours remix is basically a live instrumentation version done by Visioneers from their album Dirty Old Remixes on BBE. The track at 29:50 is by my friend Induce, I believe it first popped up on the The Vapors Project, Pt. 02 CD, but i'm not sure if that ever actually got released. It also appears on vinyl on "Infiltrate 5.0 (5 Years Of Resistance)" 12", and I believe the instrumental was used with rhyming over it on one of the Antennae records.

Actually the second track on Mix 3 is a Mitsu remix of Halcali, I'm gonna try and track down some more of his stuff now. Honestly, the only hip-hop mixes I listen to at all are done by Japanese DJ's. They're way better at selection and mixing than anything i hear over here. My fave is DJ Ryow, and DJ Mikiyuji also does some great stuff too. Though I don't know how much of that stuff makes it over here.

I for one have been really diggin' the hip hop mixes, thanks so much for posting them.

What is the "World is Yours" remix at 27:00, and even better, that instrumental track ("I do not exist") that starts around 29:50?

Also, a recommendation: if you haven't heard them, I'd strongly recommend DJ Mitsu's "Extra Feeding" mix tapes (the first volume). The full name is DJ Mitsu the Beats, great stuff. Dude is from Japan.

Yea, my mixes are a bit biased to older, more hardcore hiphop fans, so i definitely understand people not really digging em. I'll see what other styles of stuff I can dig up for the future ones.

On the captcha note, yea, my apologies about that. I started getting a ton of spam comments, so i put the quickest one up i could find. It is admittedly not very good and i've been meaning to replace it, just haven't had time. BUT, something i've learned from years of experience on the web: Before submitting any web form, always copy anything you've written to the clipboard before hitting submit.

Although it's not my style of music I quite liked this little mix, the flow is nice and easy. Thanks for sharing!

btw: you should do something about this captcha.. it now happened two times that I entered the wrong code and lost all my text. The comment on this one was very small but I'd have entered a huge amount of text in the Merck topic a while ago. It's very frustrating to say the least.
