DJ Merck - Live in The Miami Circle

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Here is the final installment in the ambient square series. Its a kind of blend of the styles from the previous mixes. With a final track that most of you will hopefully recognize (from one of my favorite movies of all time (and from an awesome soundtrack)). Hope you all enjoyed the mixes, and continue to enjoy them in the background of a productive workday, or as a final bit of music to help you drift off to sleep. Thanks for all the nice comments!

Here it is.

DJ Merck - Live in Tiananmen Square

Here is the fourth adventure, focused around electro-analog type sounds, and definitely the most beat ridden of the mixes. It ends with 3 unreleased pieces by Proswell, though one of them is just the sound of him typing while “Various Artists - No. 8″ plays in the background.

DJ Merck - Live in Red Square

The third in the series (It heads east to west). This one is intended to be a bit more moody style ambient, not sure how to explain that exactly, but i guess i just mean more densely melodic stylings (even if its minimal).

DJ Merck - Live in Times Square

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Now that those hiphop mixes have settled in, and the cold of winter has settled in as well (still in the 70’s in Miami!). I have some more somber soundtracks for you all. For the first time for the public’s ears, its the “Merck Ambient Square Tour” series. It was originally intended to be released as a limited edition 2xCassette Mix Tape, 4 mixes [44 minutes each], plus a website bonus mix. I never got around to it, so now they will get their proper listen thanks to my massive bandwidth. These were made in the first couple years of the label, they didnt actually take place ‘live’ in these places, but thats their names, so deal with it. This first mix is kind of just a general, slightly darker, themed mix of ambient, but the others along the tour have more specific themes which i’ll explain with each one.

As usual, no tracklists, but here is some of the artists involved in them (in no particular order), and i’ll answer specific trainspots if needed.

Adam Shaikh (& Tim Floyd)
